In twenty-five years of the BattleTech we have gone from a handful units in the original BattleTech Box Set (or BattleDroids for those who remember the real beginning), to a universe rich in the depth of units available to play. From the 500 kilogram Tornado PAL to nearly two million tons of McKenna WarShip, the BattleTech universe has a unit for everyone.

Sound like any of a hundred marketing pitches? Well, at more than 1200 unique units and over 4000 variants, the claim is far from hollow.

When TechManual was first released, a project began to take the Combat Operations unit list and create a definitive Battle Value 2.0 version. Through many twists and turns, errata, the inclusion of BattleForce stats and the need for the Faction List to finally be brought in house, the project grew. What started as several related projects became the BattleTech Master Unit List. At the core of this is the Master Name List. The Name List is an attempt to document every single unit ever mentioned in the BattleTech Universe, even if it was only mentioned in passing.

Today we are happy to open up the Name List to a special “Beta” test. We are bringing this you, the fans of BattleTech, for a number of reasons. First is to give you a sneak peek into the greater Master Unit List. The Name List is the core of the MUL. When the MUL is released the goal is to include BattleForce stats for all units with Record Sheets, a Jihad era update of the Faction List, and a Jihad era factory list.

But we are also bringing the Master Name List to you, the fans, to ask for your help. With twenty-five years and three companies behind us, the amount of information published in the universe is staggering. While several crack teams have worked on this project, we also know that it is almost impossible to catch everything. This is a call to all you fans. Help us find any missing units or variants that are not in the Master Name List.

Look over the list. Plumb the depths of your BattleTech trivia. If you find something missing, post it here with the following data.
